These LampyPets Kids Nightlights have Multiple Functions

Don’t you love these ling summer days? Sunset is late and we get plenty of daylight all summer long to keep our BBQ’s going and enjoy company outdoors longer. The saddest part of the year for me is shortly after school starts and it gets darker earlier and earlier. Suddenly it is 5pm and dark out. In the summer there tends to be enough light for the kids at bedtime, but after fall daylight savings it is plenty dark by then. Let me share our new “pet”, Spencer, with you. He is more than just a nightlight when the sunlight disappears.

Spencer is one of the animal LampyPets you can choose for your kids space. He is a nightlight as well as a lamp. He has 3 levels of color temperatures from 3000K which is nightlight bright to a lamp-bright 6000K. He also has 3 steps of dimming as well. So you can get a low nightlight to a decent amount of light – just enough to scare away those bedtime monsters!

My son is 10 and beyond being scared of the dark, but he does like to read most nights. That’s why having all of these lighting functions are great! He can have just the right amount of light to read yet have control enough so that if he drifts off with the book in his hands it is not too bright in the room for sleep. The fun part is you control temperature and brightness with each eyeball. It makes sense because on a nightstand, the LampyPets eyes sit at a perfect reach level.

The lighting is LED too and will last 20,000 hours! On high is has a 6W output so it is not energy-draining at all. It comes with a wall plug and instructional booklet. The handy pencil cup keeps their space neat and organized.

Let’s start getting their rooms back-to-school ready. Find all the fun characters like Spencer at LampyPets.com

Brooklyn Cloth Co. Surf and Skate Clothing Brand

Recently Anthony received a few pieces of clothing from Brooklyn Cloth Co. and he fell in love with the styles. He is all sports and typically only wears shorts and sports brands tops, socks and hoodies. He loves basketball and loves the basketball style all year. So, it was a gamble to agree for clothing from a surf and skate clothing brand. To my surprise (and perhaps his) the pieces really excited him.

The very next day he grabbed the pair of Brooklyn cloth shorts and the Sherpa-lined jacket to wear to school. Even on warm days, he grabs hoodies and coats to school because his classroom gets chilly. I warned him he may be too warm in the sherpa-lined coat, but there was no talking him out of it even on a 70 degree day.

I think this may be my favorite top. The New York cotton hoodie has the sporty look he typically wears. It is called the Boy’s New York Fleece Hockey Jersey Hoodie. We visited NYC last summer and Anthony fell in love with the city. We will be going back again this summer for a conference and he is so excited. Having these New York branded clothing brings back those memories for him. Such as visiting the Statue of Liberty when we were there.

The top above is called the Boys’ White New York State of Mind Long Sleeved Tee. It looks so sharp on him and with print on the front, back and each sleeve there is something happening on this entire shirt.

The cloth shorts at Brooklyn Cloth Co. fit long like board shorts. I ordered Anthony medium shorts in boys as a 10/12 size he normally wears and they hung long like board shorts should. You can see each piece from the shorts and jackets and how they fit in his video below….

This Target Clothing Line is Specially Made for Children Living with Disabilities

If you have a child who lives with a disability, you know the struggle to find fashionable and yet functional clothing for your little one. Whether it be a texture issue, accessibility or even just getting a proper fit with an age appropriate look, there isn’t a lot of options for parents to choose from. This is where Target has stepped up. They have rolled out a new 40-piece clothing line, Cat & Jack, which will give parents and children a much-needed choice in fashion.

This Target Clothing Line is Specially Made for Children Living with Disabilities

Accessibility

Children with physical disabilities can have a difficult time finding clothing that fits comfortably around walkers, wheelchairs or other devices necessary for everyday life. The new clothing line launched by Target offers pieces which feature snaps along side seams for easy removal and easy dressing for both children and their caregivers. The pieces with back closures allow for easy access for toileting, or while the child is seated or laying down. Some pieces include additional zippers as needed as well.

Other children’s clothing does not offer such simple access, since pants must be pulled down, shirts lifted over their head and arms pulled through. These are all things that many parents take for granted with dressing their children. Target has removed these obstacles, giving better access for both kids and parents.

Texture

Many children with disabilities, especially those on the Autism Spectrum, have sensitivities to textures like tags or seams. Helping a toddler or child get dressed who is sensitive about the feeling of the clothing can be a daunting, and seemingly impossible task some days. However, the Cat & Jack line has removed this challenge with their release of tagless garments and even clothing pieces which feature a flatter, soft seam.

The garments without tags, simply have the washing information and size printed right into the fabric, therefore eliminating that pesky tag all together. The flat seam garments feature special stitching which prevents the seam from feeling raised or “too bumpy”, as my daughter would call it and much softer against the skin.

Looking Good and Age Appropriate

Whether we want to admit it or not, appearances do matter. This is especially true when you want your children to fit in as much as possible and feel included with their peers. When children are forced to wear clothing that is bigger than needed or has been altered and adapted for their special needs, this sets them apart from their peer group.

With these new clothing pieces from Target, children will be sporting similar fashions to their friends and schoolmates without compromising practicality and functionality. This goes a long way in inclusivity and self-esteem building for your children, which is, after all, an important goal for most parents.

Overall…

The Cat & Jack adaptive clothing line is a much-needed step in the right direction towards giving kids a chance to fit in with their peers, while keeping their specific special needs in mind. What is wonderful about this line is that it is offered at an affordable price, so most parents are not priced out of purchasing these pieces for the kids, as is the case with much of the speciality clothing available for kids.

Children living with disabilities can now learn to help with the dressing process since the snaps and closures are user-friendly, which in turn gives them a sense of pride and accomplishment. These pieces can help teach your child valuable life skills and self-care, while looking good too! These garments are all one giant positive step in the right direction towards giving our kids a chance to be a part of the crowd and building better self-esteem.

Is Your Child Ready for Kindergarten? Try these tips!

I have partnered with Teach My for this feature. Opinions are my own

Is Your Child Ready for Kindergarten?

Can you believe it? Your baby is heading to Kindergarten and it happened so fast! How has at-home learning been going? Did preschool prepare your child well enough or is there more you wish they could do? Summer is a great time to sneak in extra at-home learning. It keeps their eager brains learning without a summer pause and brings a way to have some one on one time you both are craving. Let’s order your Teach My Preschool Learning Kit now. There is so much inside this kit your child will not run out of motivation to learn at home.

But, learning kits and summer home programs are expensive? Teach My is under $30! It is affordable at-home learning and let’s not stop learning after school gets out for too long or they may lose some of the knowledge preschool gave them. Let me dissect what comes in this kit:

  • Teach My Preschooler Reading Learning Set
  • Teach My Preschooler Printing Learning Set
  • Teach My Preschooler Numbers to 100 Learning Set
  • Teach My Preschooler Math Learning Set

I think that covers the early-learning subjects of math, reading and writing. Teach My makes learning fun because you get the lessons in the form of mini books, flashcards, a drawing board, a flip book, posters, counters and it all comes packed neatly in a carrying case. Don’t worry, you get plenty of guides to best create learning segments at home and make sure you are using all of these tools correctly.

Let’s make learning fun! To make sure you stay consistent and also to make sure they stay engaged, create a learning site weekly calendar! Here is what a learning site calendar may look like for example:

  1. Monday: Math Flashcards and 1 booklet – After lunch at the table. Read second story at nap time
  2. Tuesday: Number counters and Writing practice – with snacks at the backyard patio table. Read 1 story at nap time
  3. Wednesday: Field Trip! Park, grocery store, etc and bring 2 flashcards and find groups of things in the cards #
  4. Thursday: Take TeachMy case to the park for a math lesson & 1 writing fun! Read 1 book at bedtime
  5. Friday: Child’s choice = Pick 2 lessons and learning spot for the day! Have a Friday treat ready to celebrate your weeks learning!

Making learning fun, having a reward each week and changing up study spots makes it so much fun and becomes a great way to spend quality time together. It is OK if you work and it is OK if you have other children in the home. Learning each day can be anywhere you find new spots and with anyone willing to take that day! Older siblings may have fun taking 1 day a week to sit on the lawn as a weekly ‘fun chore’ and help little sibling learn for a bit! Anytime of day and any study buddy works as long as they are learning!
