Soothe Your Stomach and Make cocktails with Better Ingredients | SOOV

Soothe Your Stomach and Make cocktails with Better Ingredients | SOOV

When I was younger and had an upset stomach it was always soup and ginger ale to the rescue. The bubbles and broth did something magical to soothe your stomach and has been a go-to for many households for decades. Now that I am a parent myself I read labels and wonder just how a glass or sugary soda was always the right call? I mean, I felt it worked but was there something better?

Then I discovered SOOV, the stomach calming drink. Now there was an option with a lot less sugar and they actually used REAL ginger along with aloe, lemon, mint and chamomile.

SOOV drinks

This feel good drink in a can is great for kids and adults to soothe an upset stomach. However, as a bonus, it can also make a great alternative to sugary sodas as a mixer. The added benefit of the real ingredients can help your cocktail be a bit easier on the stomach. I just add some to a favorite liquor when I need a nightcap or have company.

SOOV cocktails

SOOV has only 6 grams of sugar and you won’t find artificial ingredients, GMO and it is gluten-free. The label? That’s easy and you will recognize every ingredient – water, ginger juice, aloe vera juice, sugar, lemon juice concentrate, mint extract and chamomile extract. Just about 1 1/2 tsp of sugar per can is much better than the almost 9 tsp of sugar in a can of similar sodas. Also, sodas are not including real ginger in the ingredients.

SOOV stomach soothing

Enjoy SOOV as a gentle mixer, stomach ache soother or as a digestive aid after a big meal. You’ll want to have these on hand, especially if you suffer with digestive disorders. My 12 year old has inflammatory, digestive problems and these are fantastic to have on hand. At under $3.50 a can (in the 12 pack) he can affordably trade out a digestive aid/enzyme drug for a can of SOOV and they taste great to him!

Visit SOOV to order a case and keep on hand in your fridge!

GO Buddha Dairy Free, Gluten Free, and Vegan Friendly Prepped Meals

As we head into 2021 it appears more people want to focus on health and cleaner eating. Many brands have come a bit further in understanding the need for healthier ingredients. Yet, if you find it hard to read a nutrition label or ingredient list it is so easy to be fooled into a healthy food item when it is anything but healthy! If you love pre-packaged meals and sides that are ONLY made with REAL ingredients, GO Buddah Vegan Friendly Prepped Meals is for you!

Go Buddha is a pre-packaged meal service that will ship fresh made-to-order buddha bowls, as well as seasonal side dishes, functional desserts, and healthy beverage options or you can pick up in the Rocky River, Ohio area.

I wondered if perhaps they add less healthy preservatives or ingredients to make it shipping-worthy, but there is no nonsense in their foods! I can go directly to the GO Buddha product pages to get the ingredients and I wasn’t kidding when I mentioned you don’t have to know anything about reading ingredient labels to know you are getting only real plant-based meals and sides.

I tried a few of their dishes and my tween devoured them also. We decided to choose our two favorites and we loved:

BBQ Jackfruit Buddha Mac (Ingredients: Red Lentil Penne | Cashew Nacho Cheez Sauce | Young Unripe BBQ Jackfruit | Cashew Parmesan Crumble | Green Onions)

Walnut Taco Bowl (Ingredients: Walnut Taco Meat- Power Greens- Cilantro Brown Rice- Grape Tomatoes- Bell Pepper Corn Relish- Spicy Black Beans- Shredded Red Cabbage- Chipotle Cheez Sauce)

My son devoured these two – we made both and put it together on one plate for dinner. My husband travels (more outside of COVID times) and when he is out of town I tend to do easier meals so these are great for a healthy alternative to quick prep meals especially now that I know my 12 year old will actually eat a healthy bowl (I was a bit surprised he liked these as they are a far cry form the quick meals he tends to grab)!

The jackfruit made the mac a bit sweet – it had texture so similar to a shredded beef and the jackfruit in a BBQ mac creates a sweet BBQ flavor. The taco salad was so full of flavor and despite shipping even the greens were crisp and fresh!

All GO Buddha dishes are vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free. Some meals may contain walnuts and peanuts. Some meals are also soy-based. The ingredients are something they can be proud of as a plant-based meal delivered that arrives fresh and cold. Visit GO Buddha to order some bowls, sides or desserts today. Once they arrive they can stay refrigerated 3-5 days.

Several ways you can get injured in the home

Several ways you can get injured in the home

Your home should be, and for the most part is, a safe place where you can make memories with your family – eat, sleep and relax. That said, no place is entirely safe and there are some things you should really keep an eye out for, to avoid injuries in your own house.

These are some of the types of accidents that can cause injuries in the home…

Slips, trips, and falls

One of the most common injuries in the home involves tripping over something (often something you’ve asked your family to put away a million times), falling down the stairs, or slipping on spilled liquids. The severity of these types of injuries can range from broken bones and back injuries to concussion and cuts. Keeping your home clean and tidy, and being aware of where you’re walking can reduce the risk of these types of injuries.

Burns

Burns can happen in a number of ways – perhaps while cooking, or by knocking a hot drink over and scalding someone. Burns can be incredibly painful and need to be treated immediately in order to reduce their damage. It can be easy to become complacent at home but this is when accidents happen. Concentrate when you cook and always use an oven mitt where needed. Keep hot drinks somewhere safe and away from children as this is an incredibly common, but awful, accident that happens more often than you might think.

Choking

Anyone can choke, but it is especially risky for babies, toddlers, and young children. It’s vital to keep an eye on children who are eating and to know what to do if they do find themselves in difficulty. You can reduce the risk of choking by ensuring particularly hazardous food such as grapes, are always cut, lengthwise, and make sure that children are sat down to eat. Avoid leaving any choking hazards on the floor, as babies and toddlers often explore the world by putting things in their mouths.

Fire

Of course, fire is a big risk for burns, which we covered above, but there is also the scary danger of smoke inhalation or even explosions caused by hazardous chemicals in the home. Check your fire alarms once a month to ensure that they are all working correctly, and be aware of any fire hazards in your home. For example, are all your electrical items in good condition? Do you use candles? If you have a gas fire, are there any potentially flammable materials close to it? It might seem like a lot of hassle but fires can be devastating and the more you can do to prevent this risk, the better.

Although there are dangers in the home, there are also ways to lessen the risk of these, by taking small steps daily to keep things safe. There is an important balance by being aware and cautious, but not allowing fear to overtake your life and make you too paranoid to enjoy things. Stay safe.
