Military Families! Boots to Shoes Program Joins with Goodwill for job mentoring. How amazing is this?! With customer funding and mentorships from MOD Pizza, Boots to Shoes and Goodwill will transition service members with their civilian job hunting and employment.
Who is Boots to Shoes?
Boots to Shoes is the training for mentors who will guide discharged service members as they re-enter the workforce. BTS civilian mentors will provide approximately 200 transitioning service members in 2020 with individual coaching in career planning, projecting their skills, sharpening civilian resumes and interview skills, and other keys for a successful transition.
Boots to Shoes goes beyond job mentoring. Goodwill’s Military and Veteran Services program serves 1,400 transitioning service and family members each year. BTS can now be of valuable assistance to these Veterans and families and will stick with them even beyond employment. This includes celebrating the businesses that train/hire these servicemen and women.
Goodwill’s Military and Veteran Services is in its 7th year of operation, now this partnership is a win-win for Veterans and local businesses.
Meet Mark Farnum! His successes are due to this civilian training as he needed to re-enter the workforce after his Military duty:
I live about 20 miles from Tacoma’s Joint Base Lewis McCord (JBLM) and Goodwill of the Olympics & Rainier Region is who helps serve these great neighbors ready to work and provide for their families in this part of Western Washington. I am proud to partner with Goodwill to share this partnership with Boots to Shoes and also with the help of MOD Pizza (my favorite pizza place)!
When you shop Goodwill and dine at MOD Pizza your purchases helps in a huge way for programs such as job mentoring one for Veterans and their families. To learn more about Goodwill’s military outreach programs, you can visit this link to sign up or request more information.
