Holiday Gift Guide: Learning with Yaya
Yael Herszkopf Mayer MS, CCC-SLP is a pediatric, bilingual (English/Spanish) Speech and Language Pathologist. In her years of work she learned one thing about children at any age and learning ability-they love to watch videos and listen to music. So she put tother the Learning with Yaya series for English and/or Spanish learners. Learning with Yaya is also a great home tool for children receiving speech and language therapy.
Here are just a few of the books in the Learning with Yaya series above. To take words and learn them by relativity makes for easy learning. The full book series includes (available in English and Spanish):
There are also free materials available for parents. Now you can follow up the books and music with coloring and writing activities to print and use. Use the progress sheets as your own at-home reports to use and know which areas your child needs more practice. Take these sheets to their pathologist or specialist for great learning information they may be able to use for helping your child improve.
Paired with the books are Learning with Yaya music Mp3 and videos. These work great for learning back up after or before reading the books. The songs are repetitive and have bright and engaging images. Below is an example of the music video for Colors.
There are only 5 characters in the series. Your child will meet Mei, Joe, Owen, Ana and Milky, the dog. Choose the books and videos in English or Spanish. Great for ESL or any second language learners.
You can purchase individual books and downloads or get the set in bundles. They make great gifts for the season.
