De-Stress in 3 Quick Steps and #StressLess2BmyBest

This is a sponsored post for RESCUE on behalf of Clever Girls Collective.

What stress do you have going on right now? I don’t necessarily mean bad stress. Stress can be anything out of the norm that is taking your time and attention away from where you normally direct it. Stress can be as bad as a death in the family, sick child, broken car, a home that won’t sell or testing and finals. However, some stress can be for some happy reasons such as a wedding, preparing a nursery, starting a new job or sending a child to College. It is how we cope with stress that determines our overall health through the process. There are those that can keep a calm and stay so rational that they glide through stressors with ease and transition back to normal quickly. Then there are those that treat stress of any kind like the plague. The entire house is in the ‘stay away from Mom/Dad mode’, people probably wear that fake ‘shoot, ran into you-anyway How are things going?’ smile. I am being a bit comical because you know who you are and you can relate. Getting back to normal requires a little hyperventilating and a day of ‘leave me alone while I gather my thoughts’! We will all go through bad and good times, so with these steps you can quickly Stop-Breathe and keep going in a more healthy way the next time life brings you a hurdle. Plus hear about a bonus natural, stress-relieving brand called RESCUE where you can #StressLess2BmyBest!
De-Stress in 3 Quick Steps

I am a Mom to 3 boys (2 at home still). I am PTA Co-president, work part-time at the High School and am an active sports Mom and Wife. My day consists of coming and going from my driveway a minimum of 4 times a day. I take my son to school, come home, go to work, come home, pick son up, go home, attend PTA meetings or sports practice, come home, go to the gym, come home! Stress is always watching a clock and being home no more than 1-2 hours at a time before grabbing my purse to head out again. To say there aren’t days I turn to my husband and say “I am having sight problems today! I just can’t see myself leaving the house even once!” and just have me and the kids ‘call in sick’ would be a lie! We recently moved 80 miles away, my husband started a new position that has him traveling more and we lost my husbands Mother just before Christmas. The good thing is that I handle stress well. I let things roll and I float back into normal well. How? It’s how I have always been. There are still times I have to focus and regroup and here are some exercises I use.
  1. Focus: How do I stop and refocus? I clear my mind for a few moments with music. I have a playlist with songs I love listening to. These are not emotional songs at all that just sink me lower. These are songs I imagine dancing or rocking out to. Whether I am at home or on the road I can just hit play, sing out load and clear my mind in minutes!
  2. Breathe: Have you ever heard of Diaphragmatic Breathing? This is a very popular de-stress technique that I will use when I feel that load and my mind is just racing! All you do is breathe slowly and deeply through your nose then slowly out through your mouth. This is done in a rhythmic motion and with 100% focus on your breathing. Focus on your lungs filling with fresh air and your mouth releasing old air. I will close my eyes and take these breathes for a moment or two in the middle of chaos.
  3. Exercise: What can I say? I use the gym as an overall daily de-stressor. If you have not joined a gym because you feel you don’t have time or may not stick to it, refocus the way you think of a gym. I think of exercise time as ‘me-time’. Once you look at a gym as a daily benefit you do for yourself, you become addicted to getting that time. For me, it is a time I can turn on my playlist, tune out the world and feel good as I breathe and oxygenate my body! It is addicting, so start your membership and see how it works.
