Core CBD Oil and Chews for Pets

You have seen the advertisement about CBD oils and probably wonder about its safety especially in use with pets. You wonder how similar this is to marijuana or how would you dose and use the CBD products. There is a lot to know and a lot unknown and frankly, many of your questions just cannot be completely answered from an FDA stand but perhaps they can from a research standpoint.

What CBD is and what it is not!

According to an article in the AKC website, CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound found in cannabis and hemp. Dr. Klein says it is essential to note that in most cases, CBD does not contain delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that gives marijuana its psychoactive properties. In fact, most CBD products are derived from hemp and not from marijuana.

How is CBD oil dosed and is it safe for my pet?

The FDA has not been able to approve official dosing requirements so for dosing it is about research from reputable CBD suppliers like Core CBD.

Here are some general guidelines from CBD Oil Review for giving your pet CBD oil:

First, consult with your veterinarian to ensure that CBD won’t interfere with your pet’s current medications or health conditions.

If all is good, start with 1mg of CBD per every 10 lbs. of an animal’s body weight, once or twice a day.

Generally, it’s good to start small, and gradually increase the amount of CBD every week until you see your desired benefits.

Stay with your pet for several hours after giving them CBD to ensure they are okay.

CBD is itself non-toxic, and so the most important thing to keep in mind is that “overdosing” on CBD will not result in fatalities. The most commonly reported side-effects for CBD in animals are sedation and over-active appetites.

How can my pet benefit from CBD Oils and Treats?

Cannabis oil can be used to treat seizures, nausea, stress, anxiety, arthritis, back pain, symptoms of cancer, and gastrointestinal issues, among other health conditions in dogs.

If you and your Veterinarian feel cannabis oil or treats can be of benefit for you pet, visit Core CBD to see all the options for your cat and/or dog at home.

Note: Make sure your CBD provider is reputable and transparent about what is in their products. You can trust Core CBD for this. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved CBD and has not issued a dosing chart. Therefore, we do not know what size dosage would be toxic. Any medication or supplement carries the risk of a reaction. It is always advisable, when giving your dog something new, to start out with small amounts and then closely monitor the effects. And always check with your veterinarian first.
