I live in the Seattle area and it is no surprise to see such a book about baseball in Seattle. We are huge sports fans in this community and the pride is strong. When I was a teenager, I worked 2 summers at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Wa-the home of our Tacoma Rainiers Minor League baseball team. At one time-back in 1955 there were the Seattle Rainiers and they played in a stadium called Sick’s Stadium. In that year the Seattle Rainiers were playing for the pennant against the Los Angeles Angels.
In this story we find treasured illustrations that take us back in time to the 1950’s Seattle and tells a story of Huey who seems to have lost his ticket to the game. He has to retrace his steps through the city to find his ticket before the big game. This story is meant to celebrate diversity and a cherished book for baseball fans.
