My Pancakes Taste Different Today

by: Heather Wood Galpert and Bruce Galpert

My Pancakes Taste Different Today! is a story that introduces kids to the effect we each have on the environment. Sometimes we do one small error and the effect snowballs down to many homes and people. It addresses the personal responsibility we all have for protecting the environment.

In this story, Ethan is told by his Mom about where the food came from while eating pancakes-his favorite breakfast. Later that day while he is fishing, he wanted to see a big splash so he threw a can in the lake. One day soon after Ethan notices that his pancakes taste different. He realizes how his mistake of throwing the can in the water affected his food. Ethan quickly gathers friends to go correct his mistake.  They will learn a valuable lesson in the process.
