I have done a few reviews on the Howard B. Wigglebottom series and am always impressed at the Lessons these books are able to portray to my son. They take everyday values and creatively speak to children in their language and analogies they would relate to to teach lessons from Sportsmanship, Courage, Bullying, Self Esteem and more. There are 11 in total and cover just about any lesson you may need for your child.
Their website, We Do Listen Children’s Books also offers songs, games and color pages that correspond to the books. The newest Book in the series is Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Courage. Not only does this book offer Superhero illustrations as my son always notices the most, they use the analogy of a bird learning to fly to teach the lesson of Courage. It is very clever and at age 4, my son completely understood the message. The book teaches that it is OK to worry and be afraid, without fear you can’t have Courage!
