I have partnered with Real Shades for this feature

Protect Your Eyes from Snow Blindness

I was recently reading an article on the Real Shades blog about snow blindness. As the talk about the total eclipse faded I remember all the talk about protecting your eyes. I also saw many articles about summer and the sun damage that can effect your eyes too. What about winter? I have spent many afternoons on the slopes here in the Pacific NW Cascade Mountains and on a clear day in the snow it gets bright!

“In the winter, the sun sits lower in the sky and at a different angle than in the summer months and can provide more exposure to UV rays.  In fact, snow reflects 80 percent of the sun’s ray.  This is why it is so important to protect eyes with sunglasses during all months- including winter.

Real Shades is a company that designs eye wear for kids that offer 100% UVA/UVB Protection and can fit toddlers 2+, kids 4+ and youth 7+ and feature Shatterproof Polycarbonate Lenses.” – Real Shades Blog

I always have our shades available for summer ATV rides in the dunes to a drive on a sunny afternoon. I also made sure my son and husband have their own pair before winter snow hits. My son wanted to match his Dad so they each got the Real Shades Storm ( in Adult and Youth sizes) and both have the matching black and red color.

These arrived with a fun emoji plush. These make excellent stocking stuffers. My husband now cover Alaska in his work territory so he’ll be prepared when he has to travel out the the Alaska snow for work in the winter and fall. Visit Real Shades to see all of the styles for baby, child and adults.
