How To Stick To A Diet

How to Stick to a Diet

Dieting is a way of losing weight that works well combined with exercise routines. For many
however this is a difficult activity to keep up as we are often tempted to serve our desire to enjoy
junk food and more. This can have a very negative effect on our overall effort to lose weight and get
back in shape, so having the proper motivation is key to remaining on track for the duration of the
diet. This article aims to give you some tips on what you can do to:

Write down your goal
The most important thing about dieting is sticking to it by making small steps. Don’t force yourself
to do too much as it will be very hard to get used to it a first. Don’t look at the scales for now and
instead give yourself a realistic goal such as not eating something and exercising 2-3 times a week.

Schedule it
This is important as you may have a difficult time fitting exercise and dieting into your life. Make
sure you set up a time for exercise as without it diets have a reduced effect overall. One these
actions are turned into a routine you will have a much easier time dealing with the changes.

Remove tempting food
This is a very important step – if you have junk food, soda and other unhealthy food laying around
your fridge or home you will be tempted and you will break your diet. It is inevitable unless
you have iron will and lets face it – most of us don’t. So no matter how hard it may be, try your
best in Farringdon removing from your sight and reach all the junk food that may be
tempting you and making you break your food regimen.

Eat on a schedule
You have to work out what food you’ll be eating and when before you go out shopping. Don’t buy
anything you don’t need and stick to the list of food items you had in mind on your list. Don’t tempt
yourself by buying “just a bit” of something or you will buckle and forget about the diet.

Three meals a day
Having three good, but healthy meals a day will keep you from snacking on junk food when you
shouldn’t do so. Stick to a nice, healthy breakfast so you can avoid temptation to eat on pointless
snacks.

Motivation
Imagine how you want to look after the diet and keep that image in your head. Have realistic
expectations about the end result of your venture. If you feel demotivated think of that image,
remember it and hold it in your mind’s eye. This will help you feel a bit more motivated and
whatever you do don’t give up. Changes take time and effort so they don’t happen overnight.

Changes
Eat smaller portions and do it in a slower fashion. Eating slowly will help your brain recognize
you’re full rather than downing all the food you have on your plate and suddenly realizing you are
full and you can’t move. Smaller plates will help you fool yourself into believing you’re eating more
than what you see. Its all a matter of perception as you eat and really enjoying your food slowly.

Find food you enjoy
Being on a diet doesn’t necessarily mean eating food that tastes like cardboard. Find food you can
eat that uses a decent amount of spices to make it palatable while at the same time being good for
you.

Find someone to work out with
Working out and dieting with someone else is a good way to motivate yourself. Find a sport of
exercise routine you are happy with and stick to it while at the same time enjoying a competitive
race with your partner.

  1. I wholeheartedly agree with getting tempting foods out of the house!! I also always keep sugar free gum with me so that when I get a sweet craving, or just get bored and feel like I need to eat I have something to fall back on.

  2. I do best when I can keep my blood sugar stable by eating frequent small meals of healthy food. I have a hard time making healthy choices when I'm ravenous!

  3. How to stick to a diet is to not call it that or go on one. I eat what I want when I want.I wear a size four. The trick is just that, three bites of food at a sitting. That's enough to fill you up.
