Holiday Gift Guide 2013: The Sparkle Box Children’s Book- a new family tradition for the Holidays

I was sent the children’s book: The Sparkle Box for review and this book will become a Holiday tradition for us from now on! My son is 5 and all he can talk about is the Toys he wants and who is buying him what and when we can get Santa his list and I have struggled to find a way to abruptly insert the real meaning of the Holidays in a way he understands. I grew up Catholic & attended Catholic schools so the real meaning was all around me every year and is still engraved into me. I forget that my boys just are not surrounded by it and sadly the school’s do not promote the real meaning very well. They promote Christmas parties and book fairs to buy gifts and fundraisers near the Holidays which carries on the portrayal that the Holidays is about gifts. I want to let my son and even the older boys understand the meaning of those gifts. Why giving is just as good for us as getting, but it is hard at the selfish age of 5. The Sparkle Box helped open up that discussion and he even made me dig for a Purple ribbon just like on the cover to decorate our own sparkle box that comes with the book. Found one-Phew! See it displayed already in my living room….

  1. The ideas and I like that things are easy to download. This is a great idea and my cousins kids are starting to really enjoy church and learning about everything so this would be a great gift for them. Thanks for the giveaway.
