Kudos to Office Depot for 16 years of it’s award-winning National Backpack Program. I was sent 7 of these new and fun designed sackpacks with supplies inside. I took some photos below so you can see them for yourselves. Then I dropped the rest off with our local Family Center office who are a part of the Lutheran Community Services chapter. This local office partners with our school district and as these bags arrived to me I heard that they were given a total count of 150 local students who’s families need help with back to school. 7 of those kids now have a new backpack and supplies from this Office Depot National Backpack Campaign. I felt very proud dropping these off and the gal raved over how fun these sacks were for the kids.
Back to school is so fun for kids-most get new clothes, shoes and backpacks. Many families, however, cannot afford brand new. So when they seek assistance and get something NEW for the kids, that is so exciting for them. Look at these designs! Lego, arcade, camo, nature and other fun themes that the kids will be proud to wear on their backs.
Office Depot has done amazing things with this program. Here are some stats to be astonished by
- In 2016, Office Depot will donate 200,000 colorful new sackpacks to nonprofit organizations, schools and agencies across the United States and internationally.
- By the end of 2016, Office Depot and the Office Depot Foundation will have given away more than 4 million backpacks and sackpacks since the National Backpack Program began in 2001.
- The Foundation is collaborating with the AARP Experience Corps, the National Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association, Feed the Children, Food For The Poor, the Kids In Need Foundation, the National Foundation for Women Legislators, Operation Homefront and Samaritan’s Feet International.
- For the eighth consecutive year, children of the Navajo Nation in Arizona will receive sackpacks.

With our lives as hectic as they are, trying to fit faith and the christian influences in can be hard. With one boy on his own, one just off to college as a Freshman and an 8 year old home and in sports, I am amazed I remembered to have them brush their teeth let alone a lesson or two in any subject. I grew up Catholic and understand the bible and lessons we derive from it as far as attitude and faith, but it is not incorporated into my boys lives like it was for me. I also attended Catholic schools so I had it a part of my school day. That is not the case with our kids.
I would find it easier to teach God’s way and read messages to them when they were younger. We could enroll them in Sunday schools or Bible camps and read them bedtime stories with Christian messages. I still do that with my 8 year-old although he is growing out of children books, but does look forward to Bible camp…once a year. When I was sent the release for Fruit-Full Kids, I knew it was for parents like my husband and I. We want to instill the Christian values, but find days fly by and we sometimes lack the creativity to weave it into our daily lives. We do eat several meals a day together so having a message at our dinner table for breakfast and dinner is a great way to remember God’s words and love.
You can buy individual plates like mine above or sets of 3. There are over 12 designs and all start with the top phrase, “The Fruit of the Spirit is…”. My plate ends with Love and has heart illustrations. Below are a few more examples of choices you have to reward your kids with God’s messages of love and family.
Visit Fruit-Full Kids and see all of the designs and read all about how 10% of all proceeds goes to Samaritan’s Purse Fruit Tree program. You’ll want to remember this brand for your Holiday shopping so that the gifts you buy this season will be giving back to those in need.

The Net Effects bags are fun and I have the Brooklyn bag that my son loved so he now uses it to carry his laptop and movies when we leave the home. It is just the right size to hold a laptop and has an extra pocket for chargers and accessories. It zips and clips to close so your items are secure inside. The outer shell has a net/mesh feel. There is also a smaller pocket on the outside to hold your keys/phone. Very well made and the colors are great. if you are looking for a meaningful gift for someone or even for your own self, carry the bag that makes a statement and changes lives. There is nothing so divine as quality chocolates, especially dark chocolate with salts and caramels. I am a huge dark chocolate fan and at the same time I love supporting brands that give back by purchasing their products. With Endangered Species Chocolates (ESC), giving back to animals is what your purchase helps do.
ESC has donated over 1.2 million dollars to support conservation organizations through its 10% GiveBack program. So, every tasty ESC treat purchased goes toward supporting a cause.
New from ESC

- Bug Bites: Milk chocolate or dark chocolate varieties. Each square includes a fun educational insect trading card. Great for parties and grab bags.
