If you need to upgrade or purchase your first washer and dryer do you know where to start? Have you been in an appliance store or a Best Buy lately? There are so many to choose from. You have top loaders, front loaders, steam options, color choices, energy options. We just bought a brand new home this summer and we bought our new refrigerator, washer and dryer from Best Buy. How did we choose where and what to buy?
We knew the finish colors we wanted, we knew we wanted energy efficient because we get credit with our utilities and we wanted the best price and rebate options. Best Buy was the best and I am not saying that because I am a Best Buy blogger. We honestly walked into every appliance store within 60 miles and Best Buy had the best selections and rebates for what we were looking for.
The Benefits of ENERGY STAR Washers and Dryers
When you see that ENERGY STAR label you are getting a washer and dryer that is most effective. An efficient machine saves you on electricity. Who doesn’t want to conserve energy? It is only best for our environment no and in the future.
ENERGY STAR washers have many cycle options so you choose what’s the best way top wash your particular fabrics with the least amount of water. These washers are 25% more efficient and use 45% less water respectively, than standard models. The average lifetime savings is $490 with an ENERGY STAR certified clothes washer. Did you know that if all clothes washers sold in the U.S. were ENERGY STAR certified, we would save more than $4 billion each year and prevent more than 19 billion pounds of carbon pollution annually? This is equal to the emissions from 1.7 million vehicles.
Front-load machines tumble clothes through a small amount of water instead of rubbing clothes against an agitator, while advanced top-load machines lift and tumble clothes through a reduced stream of water. Either way, they dramatically reduce the amount of hot water and energy used in the wash cycle.
ENERGY STAR dryers are better censored so it uses only the heat it needs for the size of load. This also saves on wear and tear of your clothing and fabrics. These dryers are 20% more efficient, respectively, than standard models. You can save over $490 over the lifetime with an ENERGY STAR dryer.
Similar to the washers, if all clothes dryers sold in the U.S. were ENERGY STAR certified, the energy cost savings would grow to more than $1.5 billion each year and 22 billion pounds of annual carbon pollution would be prevented. This is equal to the emissions from 2 million vehicles. Our new washer and dryer set we bought has the steam option. We love this option because we save time on ironing my husbands work clothes!
