I was sent the single of “My Telephone Number is” by Genevieve Goings to review as a influencer with Entertainment New Media Network. I have been compensated for this post but my thoughts and opinions are always my own.
Does you child know his or her phone number?
Tips to teaching your child his/her phone number
As parents, we know that music and video helps us teach our child so many things. My son is 5 1/2 and now knows our phone number! Many of us do not have house numbers, but rather multiple cell numbers. Try to keep it simple and focus on 1 phone number to teach your child. We chose mine because I stay home and my husband travels a lot, so mine would be the constant. Find the adult in your home that is that constant and choose that number. Later on, you can teach the others.
Write it down and hang it up. My son loves stickers and I do not allow them on the walls. I took a large white paper last year and wrote my number nice and big and hung it by his bed for him to see all the time. I told him he can put stickers on it as he pleased, but the rule is he has to read the number each time he places a sticker. He gradually added his stickers.
Use tools to back up your learning method. Songs a re a great tool to use. You can sing along with your child and be silly dancing and they love when we sing and dance with them, don’t they? Disclosure: As stated in disclosure at top, I was provided early release single for the mentioned songs. All opinions are 100% my own.
My son couldn't tell us his phone number in 5th grade. We always had a cell and there seemed to be a need to memorize it. When his 5th grade teacher asked him what it was we were shocked he didn't know. I guess we just thought he was old enough to know, but his teacher said that many kids don't know a lot of phone numbers now bc it's all in the cell phone.
That's actually a pretty helpful idea…I know it was FOREVER before my son knew our phone number — like probably 4th grade which isn't good at all. May have to try this out with my daughter!
I used a song to help my daughter learn my phone number and it was really helpful. TO this day she gets sing songy when she says mine.
catchy tone –LOVE all the 90's posters in her room LOL
A cute video to help kids learn. Singing could help with other things too
Heck, I could use this…. since we now just load numbers and forget them, I don't even know my own daughters phone number.
Such a great app for kids. I used to grill them in the car about what my phone number was and where we lived.
Great way to teach the phone number to your children! I think that's one of the basics children today need to know. Besides their parents given names.
Thanks for letting us know about the free app. I pretty much only use free apps.
My teen did not know our address a while ago-oops! 🙂
I saw that too and the scrunchies 🙂
That is such a fun way for kids to learn their phone numbers. Will be sharing with my sister for my nephew.
